Alexis Arquette And Her Famous Family

January 6th, 2008 by Babe

When you’re born into a dynamic acting family such as the Arquettes, it can’t be easy when you decide to change your identity.

alexis arquetteAlexis Arquette was born Robert Arquette in Los Angeles, California in 1970. Arquette’s siblings are actors Patricia (Medium), Rosanna, Richmond and David Arquette (Scream Movie Series). Arquette is also Courtney Cox’s sister-in-law, as Cox is married to Alexis’ brother David.

At 22, Arquette landed his first significant acting role, playing a transgender character in Last Exit to Brooklyn. Sixteen years later, he went through his own transition from male to female, an experience that was documented in the film, Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother, which debuted at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. The film focused on the 38-year-old transsexual performer and his struggle with gender identity. What had started out as cross-dressing performance art became a way of life as he discovered he was a woman trapped inside the body of a man.

Typical of the slurs and bigotry that all T’s endure, Alexis was a featured celebrity client and guest judge on the premiere episode of Bravo Channel’s television show Top Design, in January 2007 where one of the classless contestants decribed her as “Iggy Pop in drag”.

The following month, Arquette was promoting the DVD Release of Killer Drag Queens on Dope on The Adam Carolla Show. Scumbag, Danny Bonaduce, a co-host, had the balls (pardon the pun) to ask Alexis if she had a penis. The question, and her refusal to answer sparked an argument between Carolla, Bonaduce, and Arquette, ending in Arquette storming out of the studio.
