Transgender Scumbag Finally Off The Streets

January 26th, 2010 by Babe

A San Francisco judge had the good sense to hand down the maximum sentence of 17 years to a local scumbag who sexually assaulted a transgender prostitute.

The victim who was only identified as Lena H, was picked up in the Tenderloin, choked and sexually assaulted before she managed to escape, naked. The jury convicted him of forcible oral copulation, robbery, assault, and causing great bodily injury to Lena. Judge Donald Mitchell cited Francis’ “complete lack of remorse” for the attack on Lena H. in passing sentence in San Francisco Superior Court.

Donzell Francis, the convicted [tJudge Donald Mitchell cited Francis' "complete lack of remorse" for the attack on Lena H. in passing sentence in San Francisco Superior Court. ag]sexual predator[/tag] and suspected murderer and rapist of transgender prostitutes is a suspect in as many as four sexual assaults in addition to the one for which he was sentenced Monday. One of the attacks in which Francis is a suspect is the March 2007 rape and strangulation of another transgender prostitute, Ruby Ordenana. DNA evidence recovered after officers found Ordenana’s body matched a sample from Francis, police said, but no charges have been filed against him pending further testing.

There appears to have been at least three woman who were victims of Francis, and more surprisingly that these attacks may have been averted, had DNA linked to the crimes not been allowed to gather dust for two years in a San Francisco crime lab.  Reporters from the San Francisco Chronicle have now learned that all three woman were victims of the same attacker, and more surprisingly that these attacks may have been averted, had DNA linked to the crimes not been allowed to gather dust for two years in a San Francisco crime lab.

The case with Francis is a stark reminder of the high rate of unsolved cases in violent crimes against transgender men and women. The International Transgender Day of Remembrance, which memorializes those killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice, recently celebrated its 11th anniversary in November of 2009. ITDR was conceived following the November 1998 murder of Rita Hester, a crime that has yet to be solved.

On their website, the founders of ITDR have compiled a database of all violent crimes perpetrated against transgender men and women since 1995. According to their data, a recent wave of international crimes have skyrocketed the rate of violent attacks to an average of 11 per month since January 2009.

Transsexual Makes Finals In ABC Dating Show

January 13th, 2010 by Babe

Scott SchofieldScott Turner Schofield is a man who was a woman, a lesbian turned straight guy who gives the appearance of a young gay teenager. He was formerly Katie Kilborn, a former debutante and homecoming queen out of the Deep South. Basically he is a FTM performer with a transgender identity.  His three solo works, “Underground Transit,” “Debutante Balls,” and “Becoming a Man in 127 EASY Steps” have toured nationwide since 2001.

Beleive it or not, Schofield was part of a male meat market on ABC’s latest reality dating show, Conveyor Belt of Loveon Monday, Jan. 4. ABC describes “Conveyor Belt”: “Five women take a shot at finding love when 30 men are given the chance to impress them as they pass by on a moving conveyor belt.”  And lo and behold our own Scott Schofield is not only one of the elegible men hitching a ride on the conveyor belt, but he ended up as one of the four finalists!

Now the show itself sucks big time, but kudos to ABC as Schofield’s transsexual status was never mentioned to the contestants. (Actually ABC has a pretty good record of representing the LGBT community, even casting transgender actor Candis Cayne on the brilliant but canceled ‘Dirty Sexy Money.’ Looks like this only adds to the network’s growing portfolio.)

FYI – Scott made the finals was was passed up for a guitar player in the final round. You can follow his antics and activism at http://www.undergroundtransit.com

Transgender A Presidential Appointee

January 5th, 2010 by Babe

amanda1.jpgWonderful news from the White House today as President Barack Obama named Amanda Simpson to be a Senior Technical Advisor to the Commerce Department.Amanda is believeded to be the first transgender person to be appointed a position in a US senior government position.

She is quoted as saying….. “as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others.”

A former test pilot, Ms. Simpson transgendered from man to woman in the 1990’s.  She was quite a key factor in convincing Raytheon to add gender identity and expression to its equal employment opportunity policy. She now hopes that she can do the same in the US government.

Victory For Indias Transsexuals

November 12th, 2009 by Babe

India’s eunuchs and transsexuals achieved a long awaited victory in their campaign to be listed as ‘others’, distinct from males and females, on electoral rolls and voter identity cards.

The formal recognition, confirmed by the Election Commission, answers a longstanding demand by the eunuch and transgender community, (known as hijiras), who are believed to number up to six million.

In the past, many eunuchs – the term used for cross-dressers, as well as pre-op and post-operative transsexuals – have abstained in elections because they have been unwilling to identify their gender on voter forms. They could write ‘E’ for eunuch on passports and on certain government forms, but had failed in their campaign for acceptance at the ballot box in culturally conservative India.

Transgenders of Mumbai

October 5th, 2009 by Babe

With more than 4,000 years of recorded history Hijras have a supposedly sanctioned place in Indian life, but they’ve faced severe harassment.

If you are an Indian in need of some luck on your wedding day you could do no better than seek the blessing of one of the country’s estimated 200,000 male to female transsexuals or “hijras”.

I came across a great article on the Hijras’s of [/tag]India[/tag], that gives the lowdown on this complex part of Indian society. Periodically we have ventured into this area in our blog, but I thought this insightful article gives you a good look at the transgender of Mumbai,India
